Ford Offers A Cheaper Way To Own The Mustang GTD

Ford is taking its most powerful Mustang ever into the digital game world.
Key Points
- The 815-hp Mustang GTD is now available in Fortnite and Rocket League, giving players access to Ford's most powerful Mustang in two massively popular gaming platforms that aren't traditional racing simulators but offer huge global audiences.
- In Fortnite, players can customize and "drive" the GTD, while Rocket League integrates the car into its soccer-style vehicular gameplay.
- The digital GTD offers a far more accessible experience than the real car, which costs over $300,000 in the real world. In-game versions are priced at 2,800 credits (or V-Bucks), making the exclusive Mustang visible and engaging to millions of younger consumers.
The 815-horsepower Mustang GTD is now available for virtual use in the popular video games, Fortnite and Rocket League. Both games, although not traditional racing titles, offer massive audiences and a cultural reach that makes them attractive to automakers seeking to engage the next generation.
In Fortnite, the Mustang GTD becomes part of an expansive garage of licensed vehicles that already includes machinery from Lamborghini, Ferrari, McLaren, and Jeep, alongside TV and movie cars like KITT from Knight Rider and Dom's Dodge Charger from the Fast & Furious franchise. Ford has already offered the Bronco Raptor and Shelby GT500 in the game, and the GTD now joins them. A special livery in collaboration with T-Pain is also available.
Fortnite, with over 110 million monthly users, offers a sandbox-style platform where players can cruise, refuel at gas stations, and customize their rides.
Rocket League’s audience, which numbers over 100 million monthly players, will also get a taste of the GTD. The game lets you play soccer using cars instead of players, and has turned it into a favored marketing platform for automakers. Ford’s digital garage in Rocket League already includes the Mustang Mach-E, GT350R, F-150, and Bronco Raptor.
These digital appearances represent a growing shift in how performance cars are experienced and marketed. The real-world GTD is a limited-production, road-legal Mustang based on the GT3 Mustang Ford races in international endurance competition, and is priced north of $300,000.
Its availability in games makes the nameplate accessible to a wider audience, particularly younger players who may never see the car on the street, let alone own one.
