Collaborations between automakers and fashion designers are nothing new. For decades there have been co-branded special edition vehicles like the AMC Gremlin Levi’s, Subaru Outback LL Bean, Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer, and Smart ForJeremy.

Fiat is no stranger to partnerships with fashion icons either. Remember the 2012 Fiat 500 Gucci Edition? For the 2025 model year, Fiat is once again partnering up with an Italian designer, this time for the 500e Giorgio Armani Collectors Edition.

Quick Take

The subcompact all-electric Fiat 500e gains a special edition for the 2025 model year called the Giorgio Armani Collectors Edition. It adds style inspired by the famed design house, including exterior paint, special wheels, and interior treatments.

The Fiat 500e is a spunky city electric that we quite liked during our first taste of the car last year. The $2,800 ($3,500 Canadian) price premium for the Giorgio Armani Collectors Edition doesn’t seem worth it to us. Although fashionable and unique, it takes away some of the car’s value, which is an otherwise strong point for the 500e.

What’s New for 2025:

The big news this year is the Giorgio Armani Collectors Edition trim level. Otherwise, the Fiat 500e enters 2025 mostly unaltered from last year’s car.

Exterior Style:

The Fiat 500e is a purpose-built all-electric car. Although there are a lot of styling cues from the previous generation 500, the new car is larger, with a good deal more interior space. That stated, it’s still a small city car, measuring in at 142.95-inch (3,631 mm) in length.

For the Giorgio Armani Special Edition, the 500e is available in two exterior paint choices, Signature Green or Ceramic Griege. The most obvious styling cue on the exterior of the limited-edition car though are the wheels. They’re 17-inch black aluminum alloys with the Giorgio Armani logo ‘GA’ adorning the wheel covers. Although opinions are divided, we can all agree they are definitely unique.

Powertrain and Fuel Economy:

The drivetrain remains unchanged for the Armani 500e. There’s still a single motor powering the front wheels that makes 117 hp and 162 lb-ft of torque. Fiat claims the little car can get from 0 to 30 mph in less than three seconds. Although that may seem like an odd figure to quote, the Fiat 500e is meant as a city/suburbia runabout, where 30 mph speeds should be commonplace.

The car feels responsive around town, capable of roasting the front tires if the pavement is the slightest bit damp. It continues to pull strong up to the 45 mph (72 km/h) mark. From there, acceleration starts to wain as the car achieves freeway speeds. Despite its smaller stature, the 500e is perfectly capable on the highway, with a top speed of 94 mph (150 km/h).

But it’s city streets the Fiat really relishes. Driven conservatively, the 500e should be good for 149 miles (240 km) on a single charge. That figure is quoted with the summer tires installed. Our tester had the all-season tires equipped and we saw a maximum range around 135-140 mi (217-230 km).

Once depleted, the small 42 kWh battery recharges quite quickly. It can charge at speeds up to 85 kW, which means it can go from 0 to 80% charge in 35 minutes. Using a home-based stage 2 charger at a maximum of 11 kW, the car should fully charge from 0 to 100% in 6 hours.

Handling and Drivability:

The 500e is far more than the sum of its parts. Looking at the specs and hardware, we wouldn’t blame anyone for assuming it would be snoozer to drive. There’s a MacPherson strut front suspension, a twist beam rear axle, a wide 16.1:1 steering ration, and drum brakes in the rear.

But the 2,952 lb. (1,342 kg) EV is quite nimby, responsive, and loves to be driven hard. Even on the 205/45R17 Pirelli Cinturato P7 all-season tires, cornering grip is above average and the 500e changes directions without any drama. Despite its all-electric conversion, the 500e retains that Fiat charm we liked with the old model.

Our only complaint driving the car has to do with sightlines. The thick B-pillar blocks a lot of side and rear three-quarter visibility for the driver.

Ride Quality and Comfort:

With a small wheelbase, the 500e can be prone to a bit of choppiness on prolonged, uneven surfaces. Otherwise, the car does a good job absorbing bumps, especially for its size.

Inside there are four seats, two up front and two in the rear. The front seats offer ample space for most adults, with 39.3-inches (997 mm) of headroom and 41.8-inches (1,061 mm) of legroom. The rear is much tighter, with a scant 35.4-inches (898 mm) of headroom and 29.5-inches (748 mm) of legroom.

We were able to fit a family of three inside, but with two adults and a 10-year-old, space was at a premium. Behind the rear seats is a 7.5 cu. Ft (213 L) cargo area that looks bigger than the numbers suggest.

Interior Style and Quality:

Like the exterior, the interior of the 2025 Fiat 500e Giorgio Armani Collectors Edition receives a rework, that according to the manufacturer is inspired by Armani/Casa and the fashion collection. There is chevron stitching and unique patterns on the seat inserts which also have the Giorgio Armani logo on all the headrests.

Perhaps the coolest feature is the dashboard insert that has a soft touch, almost clothing-like fabric, styled to mimic a woodgrain appearance. To ensure all who enter the car know this is a special edition, there is Giorgio Armani’s signature displayed on the dashboard, interior door panels, and rear windows.

Tech and Safety:

Being the top trim for the 2025 model year, the 500e Giorgio Armani Collectors Edition comes loaded with all available features. There is a wireless charging pad, 7-inch driver information center, 10.25-inch infotainment system, as well as wireless CarPlay and Android Auto. The seven-speaker JBL audio system has audio presets including My Music Room, My Recording Studio, Giuseppe Verdi Opera House, and Open-Air Arena.

All the usual safety equipment is included, such as ADAS and Level 2 assisted driving technology, active lane management system, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross path detection, drowsy driver detection, full-speed forward collision warning-plus, intelligent speed assist, lane departure warning-plus and more

Value Dollars and Sense:

Like any high-end fashion, there’s a premium to pay for the 2025 Fiat 500e Giorgio Armani Collectors Edition. In the United States, the Fiat 500e starts at a price of $32,495 (all prices including destination charges). But the Giorgio Armani factor adds $5,000 to that price tag, bringing it in at $37,495. That’s also $2,800 more than the 500e Icona which comes with many of the same features and options as the Armani.

In Canada it’s a similar story. The 500e starts at a price of $42,290, with the Giorgio Armani clocking in at $48,885. Compared to the well equipped La Prima, it’s a $3,500 increase.

Final Thoughts:

After revisiting the Fiat 500e, we still conclude it’s a spunky, well-rounded electric city car. With the Fiat 500e Giorgio Armani Collectors Edition, it’s Italia turned up to 11. It’s a collaboration between an Italian automaker and an Italian fashion designer on a car that’s even built in Turin, Italy.

Although fashionable and unique, the price premium takes away some of the car’s value though, which is an otherwise strong point for the 500e. Unless the branding and uniqueness of the Armani are a must, we’d suggest skipping this special edition, steeping down a trim or two to save a bit of money, and still enjoy a well-equipped Fiat 500e.
