Ford is leaning hard into America's birthday with the latest version of the Mustang GTD Spirit of America edition, a red-white-and-blue tribute arriving just ahead of the United States’ 250th anniversary celebrations.

If you've been paying attention, this is the second coming of the GTD's Spirit of America package. Version 2.0 builds on the original GTD special edition Ford revealed before customer deliveries even began, though the changes remain largely cosmetic. Underneath, it’s still the same barely street-legal Mustang wearing a license plate.

Visually, the GTD Spirit of America wears Performance White paint accented by asymmetrical Race Red and Lightning Blue striping. Ford says the offset graphics are meant to reinterpret the Mustang’s classic tri-bar logo. Exposed carbon fiber remains prominent, particularly on the front splitter and rear wing.

The red-painted mirror caps and spoiler endplates return from the original Spirit of America package, along with the oversized “Mustang” lettering splashed across the rear wing.

The standard Performance Package remains included, bringing additional aerodynamic hardware including dive planes, a larger front splitter, revised underbody elements and the active rear wing system. Some of the more aggressive aero elements from the GTD Competition car— the one that just reclaimed the Nürburgring record for an American car—particularly the canards and rear aero-disc wheel covers would fit this package perfectly.

Ford did not release updated interior photos, which usually means nothing substantial has changed inside. Expect the same exposed carbon fiber, aggressively bolstered seats, and 3D-printed titanium trim pieces.

Mechanically, nothing changes. The Spirit of America package is still fundamentally cosmetic, meaning the GTD retains its supercharged 5.2-liter V8 producing 815 horsepower and 664 lb-ft of torque. Power continues routing through the rear-mounted transaxle setup and is capable of pushing the car to a 202 mph top end.

Ford says interested buyers can apply for the Spirit of America edition through May 18, 2026.
