Audi's New Concept C Is A Taste Of The Automaker's Future

Audi has pulled the wraps off the Concept C ahead of its debut at the Munich Motor Show. The all-electric coupe-roadster concept previews a new production model due in 2027 and introduces a fresh look that will serve as a guiding light for the brand's design department in the coming years.
Key Points
- Audi has unveiled the Concept C, an all-electric coupe-roadster meant to succeed the spirit of the TT and R8 while introducing a new design philosophy.
- The car features a folding hardtop, minimalist interior with tactile controls, and design cues inspired by the 1936 Auto Union Type C racer and Audi’s past models.
- Built on the PPE platform shared with Porsche, the Concept C will launch in production form by 2027 with single-motor and Quattro dual-motor versions expected.
Its upright, rectangular grille—dubbed the new “Audi brand face”—is flanked by ultra-slim four-element headlights that Audi says will define its visual identity moving forward. A rakish windshield, taut body surfaces, and a pronounced shoulder line give the concept a sharp, sculpted stance, while its louvered rear draws inspiration from the legendary Auto Union Type C race car.
Audi confirmed that the Concept C is a “concrete preview” of a production vehicle, set to be built at the company’s Böllinger Höfe plant in 2027. The model is widely expected to share its underpinnings with Porsche’s next-generation electric 718 Boxster and Cayman. While the concept shown uses a single rear-mounted motor, dual-motor Quattro versions are likely when it reaches production.
Audi Concept C: All The Details
Though Audi is keeping the concept's technical specifics under wraps, it did say the battery pack is mounted behind the seats to mimic the stance of a mid-engine car.
The car is also the first Audi to feature a folding hardtop roof that lets it switch between coupe and roadster at the press of a physical aluminum button. The interior follows the same minimalist brief, with tactile switches and a center display that can be tucked away to keep the dash uncluttered.
Inside, the Concept C takes a pared-back approach Audi calls “shy tech.” The cabin is minimalist, with cloth upholstery instead of leather, indirect ambient lighting, and anodized aluminum accents. A digital instrument cluster sits behind a reworked steering wheel, while the 10.4-inch infotainment display can fold away completely to reduce distractions.
When it arrives in 2027, the Concept C will attempt to carry the torch of the brand’s sporting identity into the EV age, Audi hopes the car will give drivers a real alternative to the discontinued TT and R8.
