How To Waste Less Oil in Older Vehicles

It’s not easy getting old. It gets harder to get warmed up. Things don’t move like they used to, and maybe some age spots and wrinkles starts creeping in. The same thing happens to your car, too. All those cycles of heating up and cooling down, plus the wear and tear of metal parts moving against each other all the time, well, it takes a toll on your older vehicle’s motor. Seals don’t work as well and performance can drop a little. The biggest thing you’ll start to notice is your vehicle uses a little more oil than it used to. It can start to feel like you’re wasting oil, but there are some ways to mitigate the loss.

Combustion motors are a pretty neat thing. If you’re reading this, then you think so, too. You’re basically creating small explosions inside your vehicle and using them to move metal parts around to give you the power your vehicle needs to move. It’s science, and science is cool. Science also tells us that things wear out. As your motor ages, rubber seals can start to weaken and leak, plastic components can wear down, and yes, the metal parts can warp and wear down from the process of combustion, movement, heating and cooling. We have a line of defense, however, in LIQUI MOLY’s Motor Oil Saver. More on that in a minute.

Where Did the Oil Go?

There are several ways to tell if your engine is using oil. The first is something we all should be doing on a regular basis and that is checking it on the dipstick. If it is low, add some oil. You may also notice some other signs, like the smell of burnt oil surrounding the car, or the haze of blue smoke in the exhaust coming from the burning of the oil. All are telltale of oil leaking from where it should be, into places it shouldn’t be. When your motor oil gets into places where it wasn’t intended, that doesn’t leave enough to do the job.

You can keep adding more oil, but that is not solving much. Yes, you are keeping oil in the moving parts of the engine, ensuring it is lubricating and reducing friction and heat. However, if you’re burning off oil, it means you’re not getting the performance you should expect from your motor. That isn’t just to say that you can’t go fast, not at all. It means your car can lose power, have poor fuel efficiency, and cause extra wear and tear on other areas of your motor.

Is There A Quick Fix?

We can all guess that a full engine rebuild is likely in the future of the vehicle, but it doesn’t have to be the case, at least not right away. LIQUI MOLY’s Motor Oil Saver is an additive that can give you many years and extra miles of life to your engine.

What Motor Oil Saver does is maintain and regenerate the rubber and plastic seals in the engine oil circuit of gas and diesel engines. Anywhere the oil is supposed to be, LIQUI MOLY’s Motor Oil Saver can help. This makes it a great product for your older vehicle, but it also helps preserve the condition of your newer motors as well.

How Does It Help You Stop Wasting Oil?

That’s a great question. You add LIQUI MOLY’s Motor Oil Saver to your oil and it blends with any type of motor oil. It works its way to your components like gaskets and o-rings and refreshes rubber-based engine seals. Rubber-based seals harden and shrink with age and Motor Oil Saver will prevent or reverse that process. If your engine is consuming oil, it may be because your valve seals are aged and hard. In that case, adding Motor Oil Saver will soften these seals and reduce oil consumption. It also cuts down the exhaust smoke and emissions you get from burning oil.

Tired of having your friends joke about your car marking its spot in the driveway? This product also deals with external leaks by minimizing or even eliminating them. LIQUI MOLY’s Motor Oil Saver has also been proven to dampen engine noise and lower your repair costs. It even reduces pollution and improves the environment.

One full can (300 ml) is used with 3 to 5 liters (3.2 to 5.3 US Qts) of motor oil. It is self-mixing, so you can just add it in at any time, so you don’t automatically have to change your oil. It will take approximately 400 to 500 miles of driving before the treatment is completed. If you needed a new excuse to go for a drive, here you go.

LIQUI MOLY is confident in your results if you use it properly. For prevention, they recommend to use Motor Oil Saver every 20,000 miles or two years to guarantee that you’ll see real, lasting effects. It works with all types of combustion motors, including four-stroke small engines, and is safe for turbochargers, catalytic converters, and more.

"You’re basically creating small explosions inside your vehicle and using them to move metal parts..."

This has always been a pet peeve of mine. Controlled flame front events aren't explosions. Explosions occur when detonation occurs, and we all know that's a bad thing.

Maybe I'm a little picky, but we're talking about the basis for almost all IC engines.
