Tesla Reopens Roadster Reservations Ahead of October Reveal
Tesla has officially put the Roadster reservation page back online, asking prospective buyers for the same eye-watering sum it demanded nearly a decade ago.
Holding a spot in line requires a total deposit of $50,000—structured as an immediate $5,000 credit card charge followed by a $45,000 wire transfer due within 10 days—all ahead of a scheduled October 1 reveal event in Waco, Texas.
A $50,000 Reservation and Nine Years of Waiting
Tesla lists the initial $5,000 card charge as fully refundable, but clarifies that a reservation is not finalized until the full $45,000 wire clears.
Early adopters paid this exact $50,000 sum when the second-generation Roadster concept debuted back in November 2017. Nearly nine years and at least eight delays later, those original depositors are still waiting for a production vehicle. When first shown, Tesla promised a 620-mile driving range, a 0–60 mph sprint under 1.9 seconds, a top speed surpassing 250 mph, and a starting price tag of $200,000. None of those figures have been officially reconfirmed for the production model set to debut next month.
The upcoming reveal will take place in Waco, Texas, near SpaceX’s McGregor engine testing facility. Despite the planned event, official details remain light. The Roadster landing page features a countdown timer and a "Reserve Now" button, omitting finalized specs, pricing, or production timelines.

Goes 250 mph, that's ridiculous and seriously dangerous. You hit something going that fast you will be vaporized.
I trust Musk's promises just SLIGHTLY more than Trump's check promises LOL !!
