A lot of factors go into what comprises insurance rates, and though the algorithms are more convoluted than any of us data mortals would care to analyze, we all know that an insurance premium cost increase isn't a good thing. It's inevitable that a price hike comes to some vehicles each year, so let's look at the five vehicles that saw the biggest 2025-2026 insurance premium jumps.

As it turns out, luxury vehicles are subject to among the most dramatic insurance premium swings, and for those on the spending side of things, it's not for the better. JD Power and information subsequently via Compare.com notes that "Although location, driving record, and vehicle use significantly influence auto insurance costs, the car itself is a major factor," the information for which is admittedly pulled from the Insurance Information Institute, but which still reveals that luxury costs more on every side of the equation. There's also the potential to inflict (expensive) damage, as well as the "power and performance" of the vehicle itself.

Needless to say, there's a list of cars and SUVs that saw big annual insurance premium hikes, and these are the top five on that list.

1. Audi S5 | +23% ($-939) Year-Over-Year Increase, to $4,937 Average

2. Acura RDX | +10% ($-234) Year-Over-Year Increase, to $2,581 Average

3. Nissan Murano | +9% ($-235) Year-Over-Year Increase, to $2,745 Average

4. Genesis GV80 | +9% ($-268) Year-Over-Year Increase, to $3,151 Average

5. Chrysler Pacifica | +7% ($-190) Year-Over-Year Increase, to $2,803 Average

Audis are very expensive to maintain and depreciate badly .This huge increase in premiums on them could be a gap insurance also in case they are totaled .Im very surprised the bmw’s aren’t on this list .

I could understand a price increase with something like a European sports car but a "Nissan Murano"?
