Reports Say California Is Running Out Of Gas. Is It True?
Amidst high fuel prices and pseudo-fuel shortages, panic seems to be setting in for some. Many social media news outlets picked up on a story that there might only be six weeks' worth of fuel supply left for Californians, raising alarms about both the ability to actually get gas and the potential for even higher prices at the pump.
But is it true?
As it turns out, the rumors are false. Though many people started telling tales that Iran controlling the Straight of Hormuz would directly impact the supply available for California, with a report coming out that the "last" tanker dedicated to California had made its way through the channel. California Energy Commission spokesperson Niki Woodard reportedly told PolitiFact that they can't reliably predict fuel supply forecasts more than 10 days out, so there's no validity to this six-week story at all.
With the consequence of such being even higher gas prices, thankfully this is all just straight from the rumor mill and not founded in fact.
That's good news, or at least relatively so. Considering that (as of this writing) the average gas price in California is over $6.075/gallon for regular grade, people are really hurting on the cost of living front. There might not be much more room for people to incur further charges when it comes to fueling their vehicles.
This doesn't mean we're out of the woods just yet, as it feels like every day is a new adventure when it comes to the fallout of the Iran War.
