An open-air G-Wagen is set to return for the first time in nearly a decade.

Attention professional athletes, hiphop artists, and social media influencers: your next car is about to arrive. Mercedes-Benz on Thursday teased a shadowy first look at the G Cabriolet. Following in the footsteps of the G500 Cabriolet and the Mercedes-Maybach G650 Landaulet, the latest member of the G-Class family will offer up open-air experiences for the 1-percenters, and this time it'll be offered in more markets across the globe, including America.

That's about all we know at this point, because Mercedes included just two sentences along with this image. Turning up the brightness in Photoshop doesn't reveal much more; we can't even tell with complete certainty whether that's the usual spare-tire holder or the EV's charger storage container, for example. So the powertrain could be anything—or all three currently available choices on the "regular" Geländewagen. We suspect this will have a retracting soft top similar to the Landaulet, as both are four-door models.

The Cabriolet will arrive shortly after the G-Class celebrated its 600,000th example produced, spanning nearly half a century. We suspect pricing will start well above the current $150,000 baseline.

The G class is the ugliest vehicle on the road today. Another itineration isn't going to help.

If you want to look that dumb, just buy a Jeep Gladiator and take the doors and top off!
