Hyundai Elantra N TCR Confirmed for Gran Turismo 7 Free Update
Hyundai's championship-winning touring car is coming to Gran Turismo 7 early next year.
At the Gran Turismo World Finals in Fukuoka, Japan this weekend, Hyundai announced the next addition to the popular sim racing title: the Elantra N TCR. No, not the road-going, limited-production Elantra N TCR Edition that we recently drove, but the race car that it celebrates.
The news comes from JooN Park, the VP of N Brand and the father of the sporting sub-brand. Park joined series creator Kazunori Yamauchi on stage to announce the good news, confirming that the TCR will be arriving in Gran Turismo 7 in a January 2026 content update. This is somewhat surprising, as GT7 just saw a substantial " Spec III" update earlier this month.
What can sim racers expect of the car? This is the championship-winning vehicle that has dominated in series like the Michelin Pilot Challenge, with drivers like Canada's Robert Wickens securing multiple class titles. Like the road-going car, the Elantra N TCR uses a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine. This one sees a power boost to around 350 horsepower however, and sends its power to the front wheels via an Xtrac six-speed sequential transmission.
We suspect the N TCR will slot into GT7's Gr. 4 class, which features other front-drive race cars. We also expect the Hyundai to share the spotlight with at least another car or two, though we'll have to wait until January to know more.
