Honda Will Announce New Global EV Series At CES 2024
Honda will unveil a new “global” EV at CES 2024 in Las Vegas on January 9th. Honda says that the announcement is part of the brand’s carbon neutrality goals and that a total of 30 new EVs will be introduced “globally by 2030.” Honda predicts sales volume of these EVs will be somewhere around 2 million units. Eventually, the brand hopes to have 100% zero-emission car sales by 2040. Interestingly, the brand also said in its release that the plan “includes battery electric and fuel cell electric powered models.”
It’s worth noting that Honda says “zero-emission automobile sales by 2040,” not that the brand as a whole will be entirely zero emissions within that timeline. Regardless, the announcement at CES will feature a few of the new EV models, likely in concept or pre-production form, as well as some of the tech that these models will employ as they roll out. Honda’s announcement included a teaser photo as well, which shows the nose of one of these models. It isn’t clear what it is yet, but the low, raked nose suggests something sporty. The press conference will be held by Honda’s CEO, Toshihiro Mibe, and its Executive Vice President, Shinji Aoyama at 10:30 AM PST.
