Firestone Launches New Firehawk Indy 500 V2 High-Performance Tire

Firestone, a subsidiary of Bridgestone Americas, has introduced the Firestone Firehawk INDY 500 V2, a new ultra-high-performance summer tire that replaces the original Firehawk INDY 500.

The updated tire brings a revised tread pattern and several design changes, including the use of Bridgestone’s ENLITEN technology. Firestone says the goal was to improve steering response, grip, and overall usability while keeping the tire positioned as a strong value option for performance-oriented drivers.

Firestone points to features such as connecting tread blocks, an A-shaped groove layout, and an updated tread compound to support more consistent handling. A wider inner rib is also intended to provide quicker response to driver inputs.

Firestone also focused on tread life and wet-weather performance. The tire uses a revised tread block design meant to distribute pressure more evenly across the contact patch, which should help with wear and braking performance, particularly in wet conditions. Circumferential grooves and a rain-focused groove design are intended to help move water away from the tread surface to maintain traction on wet roads.

This is the first Firestone ultra-high-performance summer tire to incorporate elements of Bridgestone’s ENLITEN technology, which the company says is aimed at balancing performance with efficiency and sustainability considerations. Firestone notes that the tire was developed with rolling resistance in mind, which can contribute to improved fuel efficiency over time.
