Aston Martin Will Always Make A Combustion Engine - Lawrence Stroll
A report by Autocar indicates that Aston Martin will continue to sell combustion cars after pushing back the launch of its first EV to 2027.
Aston Martin’s executive chairman Lawrence Stroll told the publication there will “always be demand” for gas-powered Aston models. "For as long as we're allowed to make ICE cars, we'll make them. I think there will always be demand, even if it's small." Stroll says customer demand was a driving force. Apparently, buyers have told dealers they most want the “sounds and smells” of traditional combustion-powered cars.
Stroll emphasized the arrival of updated and new gas-powered models, giving dealers and customers “four new products in 12 months, when we'd done four products in 10 years before.” These include the recently-updated Vantage and the DB12, however, both of which have already debuted. Aston will also introduce a refreshed DBX and the DBS replacement soon.
The company stance on hybrids has shifted as well, and Aston Martin has "decided to invest very heavily in PHEVs." The automaker sees them as much more than a stop on the way to fully electric vehicles. Instead, Stroll says the marque will have an “extensive offering” of PHEVs that will remain on sale into the mid-2030s and even beyond. Autocar claims the company hybrid tech will be based around a V8 engine, not unlike what Lamborghini is rumored to be doing. Much like the Italian brand, Aston will hybridize its V12 at some point too.
The company’s fully electric models will all use the same platform, with four total models — a GT, SUV, crossover, and a mid-engine supercar — all spawning from it. Lawrence’s comments on why Aston would push back its plans for EVs tell the whole story: “We planned to launch at the end of 2025 and were ready to do so, but it seems there is a lot more hype in EVs, politically driven or whatever, than consumer demand, particularly at an Aston Martin price point."

Good for Aston Martin !! And Please, don't put James Bond in an EV !
Is this really of interest to us regular folk, who only bow down to Astons from a respectful distance?
Other carmakers take heed! Oh, right, many are!
