Buyers will have the choice of rear- or all-wheel drive, with little difference in range between them.

It's finally happening. Volkswagen on Wednesday announced the pricing for the upcoming, all-electric ID.Buzz. While the reborn 'Bus has been on the roads in Europe for a while now, the North American model is larger, fitting in a standard third row. Today we've learned it will debut in America for $61,420 including destination, and top out at the limited 1st Edition trim for $71,545 ($85,095 CAD) in all-wheel drive form.

As the most expensive VW model when it arrives in dealerships later this year, the Buzz comes with a laundry list of standard features. A power tailgate and power sliding doors—with power-operated windows within them—are included right from the entry Pro S trim, along with heated folding mirrors, second row heated outboard seats, 30-color ambient lighting, and more. The exterior lighting is fully LED with hello and goodbye animations, and the Pro S rides on 20-inch alloy wheels. This model is a bench-seat affair, with seating for seven. Three-zone climate control and the "Buzz Box" configurable center console are standard as well.

Moving up to the Pro S adds $3,500, netting a surround view camera, hands-free doors and tailgate, a tow hitch, and a 14-speaker Harman Kardon sound system. The AWD 4Motion model (another $3,500 surcharge) includes a heated windshield and second-row captain's chairs. Moving to the Pro S unlocks the additional two-tone exterior colors for $995.

Finally, the 1st Edition will be the Buzz flavor available in both Canada and the US. This bundles those two-tone paint options into its $67,045 ($79,595 CAD) price, while adding unique wheels, badging, floor mats, and roof rails. A huge panoramic glass roof with electrochromatic tinting also joins the lineup; it's optional on the Pro S.

The announcement comes with our first look at the two darker interior color schemes coming for the Buzz' North American debut. Moonlight is a mostly monochrome affair with a warm brown, while copper (or cognac in Canada) trades in for a rich brown and blue-black combo. Dune is the familiar cream and orange we've seen previously.

All ID.Buzz models will run a 91-kilowatt-hour battery pack, with 282 horsepower for rear-drive models and 335 hp for 4Motion models. Range comes in at 234 miles (377 kilometers) and 231 mi (373 km), respectively. We expect one of our most anticipated models of 2024 to arrive in dealerships before the end of the year.
