Volkswagen has officially revealed the second-generation 2027 Atlas Cross Sport. #5: SPORTIER COUPE-LIKE STYLING

Compared to the 7-seater Atlas, the Cross Sport is 5.4 inches shorter and 2.1 inches lower, giving it a much more planted stance. Up front, you’ll find double-stacked LED headlights, a masked upper grille, and an available illuminated VW badge with double lightlines. Around back, the tailgate now sits flush with the rear bumper, complemented by dynamic turn signals and body-color rocker panels. New 20- and 21-inch wheel designs complete the look alongside fresh paint options like Dark Sage Metallic.

#4: ELEVATED INTERIOR COMFORT

Volkswagen redesigned the interior with a bold architectural loop motif, high-quality soft-touch surfaces, and standard gray wood trim. Higher trims feature 30-color ambient lighting that shines through perforated, backlit door panels. Up front, drivers get a 12-way ergonomic seat, with top grades adding full-back massage functions, thigh support, and premium Varenna or Nappa leather. You also get practical upgrades like a standard power liftgate with Easy Open and rear sunshades.

#3: ADVANCED IQ.DRIVE SAFETY SUITE

A new front center airbag brings the standard airbag total to seven. The standard IQ.DRIVE suite receives upgraded Travel Assist that now supports driver-initiated lane changes. Available Predictive Adaptive Cruise Control uses navigation data to automatically adjust your speed for curves, roundabouts, and exit ramps. Furthermore, Emergency Assist Plus can even guide the vehicle safely to the side of the road if it detects a driver medical emergency. So if the massaging seats and cruise control put you to sleep on the highway, the car’s got you covered.

#2: NEXT-GEN INTERIOR TECH

Every model comes with a 10.25-inch Digital Cockpit Pro gauge cluster, while a massive 15-inch infotainment screen comes standard on 90% of the lineup. A new physical Driver Experience Dial on the center console gives you tactile control over volume, drive modes, and lighting themes. You also get side-by-side dual Qi2 wireless charging pads and myVW+ connected services—bringing generative AI voice control, myQ garage integration, and AirConsole gaming while parked.

#1: MOST POWERFUL ENGINE TO DATE

And our number one feature: performance. Under the hood sits the evo5 EA888 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder—the most powerful engine ever fitted to an Atlas Cross Sport. Making 282 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, it delivers a 13-horsepower bump over the outgoing model while improving fuel economy. Mated to an 8-speed automatic with available 4Motion all-wheel drive, it maintains a strong 5,000-pound towing capacity.

That’s our first look at the 2027 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport. What do you think of the new styling and tech upgrades?

Every fatless I've driven and worked on has been feckless. Absolutely awful vehicle, powered by a way too small engine. Highway speeds are scary as it can barely move the thing once at speed.

By 100k it'll probably lose a turbo, then all the electrics and electronic sensors slowly start to eat themselves alive.

4 years behind the toyota rav4 phev. toyota and subaru now are upgraded from the 302 hp units.

the stitching and layout is awful. in between the rear seats the 3rd headrest doesn't have that poor surgery stitch.
