Model 3 Gains 528 HP, 16-Inch Screen for US Buyers
Tesla has brought its larger 16-inch center touchscreen to every Model 3 offered in the US, Puerto Rico, and Mexico, a day after the same display reached the Chinese-market lineup. Tesla North America posted the changes on X on Thursday evening, and they already appear in the US configurator.
The larger screen takes over from the 15.4-inch unit on every trim, starting with the base Model 3 RWD at $36,990. Tesla says it is the same display added to the Model Y Premium in January and installed across the Chinese Model 3 range a day earlier. The automaker's comparison tool now shows a 16-inch first-row touchscreen on every trim.
The rest of the update focuses on the two dual-motor cars. The Model 3 Performance picks up a black headliner, and its EPA-estimated range rises from 309 to 316 miles. Tesla describes peak power as "improved" at 528 hp, up from the 510 hp listed when the car launched in 2024. Its 0 to 60 mph time holds at 2.9 seconds.
The Model 3 Premium AWD gets the larger improvement. It now does 0 to 60 mph in 3.8 seconds, down from 4.2 seconds, with 346 miles of range. Tesla did not detail the source of the extra power and range, or say whether either will reach vehicles already delivered.
Pricing is unchanged. The lineup opens at $36,990, with the Premium RWD at $42,490, the Premium AWD at $47,490, and the Performance at $54,990.
Several features available elsewhere still do not reach US buyers. Vehicle-to-load is the most notable omission. In China, every Model 3 can send out 2.2 kW of AC power using an adapter. In the US, Tesla restricted V2L to the Model Y Premium, Model Y Performance, and Cybertruck in August, and nothing changed for the Model 3 here. The configurator lists no external power feature for the car.
The light gray interior Tesla introduced in China is also absent from the US lineup, where the choices remain black and black-and-white. Canada is excluded as well. Tesla's post named the US, Puerto Rico, and Mexico only, and the Canadian configurator still displayed the 15.4-inch screen, despite Canada sourcing its Model 3 from Giga Shanghai.
