Honda Accord Recalls Over the Years: Is Your Model Affected?

The Honda Accord is the Japanese automaker’s bread and butter family sedan and it has had a number of important recalls during its production run.
Thanks to extensive data from NHTSA, we have compiled a list of recalls for this popular family sedan. Data from the NHTSA is available for the first generation of the Accord (1976 – 1981) all the way up to the ninth generation (2013 – 2017). First-Generation Honda Accord Recalls (1976 – 1981)
Initially available as just a three-door hatchback, a four-door was released a year after. A total of one recall was issued for this generation:

Second-Generation Honda Accord Recalls (1981 – 1985)
This generation became the first Accord to be both built in Japan and in the U.S. A total of three recalls were issued for this generation:

This generation was the first to employ double wishbones at the front and rear ends. A total of three recalls were issued for this generation:

Seventh-Generation Honda Accord Recalls (2002 – 2007)
This was the first generation that introduced a hybrid version to the lineup. A total of 26 recalls were issued for this generation. Many of the recalls from here on have to do with the larger Takata airbags issue, where some airbags had inflators that could rupture and send sharp metal fragments flying into passengers, resulting in serious injury or even death in some cases.

Unfortunately, Honda used Takata Airbags in many of it's models leading to many recalls, more than Toyota. Toyota Camry does not have Takata airbags and the '03 Camry I had was not recalled
