Find everything you need to know about the Lexus RZ here, along with expert reviews, specs, photos, videos and more.

The RZ is Lexus’ first foray into the world of electric vehicles. Sharing a platform with the Toyota bZ and Subaru Solterra, the RZ sets itself apart by offering more power than either of those two offerings.

Lexus RZ Overview

The 2026 Lexus RZ battery electric luxury SUV has been updated with revisions aimed at increasing power, extending range, and introducing new driving experiences. Since 2005, Lexus has focused on electrification, and the RZ, initially launched in 2023, was its first globally available, purpose-built battery-electric vehicle. The 2026 model features a redesigned battery electric system that improves motor output, driving range, and charging times under ideal conditions. The RZ lineup will offer three power options: 221 total system horsepower (RZ 350e FWD), 308 total system horsepower (RZ 450e AWD), and 402 total system horsepower (RZ 550e F SPORT AWD).

What's New for 2026:

A notable addition for 2026 is the RZ 550e F SPORT AWD, which features higher-output front and rear motors for increased power. This new variant also introduces Lexus's first-ever M Mode, an electronic system that provides virtual manual gear shifting via paddle shifters. The RZ 550e F SPORT AWD has a distinct exterior with black F SPORT emblems, a rear spoiler, specific bumper moldings, a front grille, and 20-inch wheels with aero covers. It will also be available in an exclusive new color, Wind. The 2026 RZ adopts the North American Charging System (NACS) charging port and includes an 11-kW on-board AC charger. Estimated driving ranges are approximately 300 miles for the RZ 350e FWD, 260 miles for the RZ 450e AWD, and 225 miles for the RZ 550e F SPORT AWD, when equipped with specific tire sizes and charged under ideal conditions.

2023 Lexus RZ 450e Review: Coulda Been a Contender

Two hundred and seven. Or a little shy of one hundred and twenty-nine.

Those are the estimated ranges, in kilometers and miles respectively, that the 2023 Lexus RZ 450e is showing when I pick it up. It’s a windy December evening and the mercury is hovering right around the freezing point. I know that the estimate isn’t just reflective of the temperature but how the car was recently driven—something I don’t know—yet that’s of little comfort.

When I first drove the RZ back in February, the impression was that while it couldn’t compete on numbers, it retained the core Lexus experience that makes buyers so loyal to the brand. After spending a week with it however, I’m just not convinced the RZ measures up.

2023 Lexus RZ 450e First Drive Review

The numbers do not favor the 2023 Lexus RZ 450e, the luxury brand’s first dedicated electric vehicle.

Lexus‘ latest arrives on the scene with less power and less range than its established competition. To complicate matters, it’s also showing up to the party fashionably late.

Do numbers really matter, though? We’re talking a luxury SUV here, the sort of vehicle people buy for reasons of the heart at least as much as the head. To find out, we headed to Provence in southern France to learn more about the RZ, its yoke steering system, and how this electron-muncher fits into the broader Lexus family.
