Hyundai Palisade – Review, Specs, Pricing, Features, Videos and More
The Palisade has received a fresh round of updates to keep it in fighting form. Refreshed inside and out, the Palisade has been a front runner for years, and the changes should keep it near the top of the pack. The big three-row SUV continues to use a 3.8-liter V6 engine while a lot of the competition has opted to go the turbocharged four-cylinder route.
Inside, the Palisade is one of the more premium looking and feeling vehicles in its segment. Crammed full or tech and quality materials, the Hyundai feels more expensive than it is.
Pros | Genuine luxury feel, Loaded with amenities, Easy-going attitude |
Cons | No hybrid option, Dark third row, Lots of chrome on Calligraphy |
Bottom Line | The Palisade remains a deeply impressive choice in the modern car market |

Hyundai Palisade Vs Mazda CX-90 Comparison
Earlier this spring, Mazda launched a new three-row SUV called the CX-90. A more premium, rear-wheel drive-bias family hauler, we eagerly tossed it into an eight-vehicle, three-row SUV mega comparison.
For that shootout, we had a fully loaded 2024 Mazda CX-90 3.3 Turbo S Premium Plus (called Signature in Canada). Although we regarded it as the best vehicle in the comparison, its price point was just too steep to topple the fantastic value that is the Hyundai Palisade. Ultimately, the CX-90 came up a bit short, finishing second.

Best 3-Row SUV: New Mazda CX-90 vs 7 Rivals
We sent out the call. A request to every manufacturer, looking for new, significantly updated, or strong contenders in the mainstream three-row SUV segment. We need the best of best for a special AutoGuide Three-Row SUV Shootout Comparison brought to you by Weathertech. Our goal: to find the best 3 row SUV.
Quickly, manufacturers responded and entries poured in. Representing Korea are two strong options in the Kia Telluride and Hyundai Palisade. From Japan, we have the usual players, the Honda Pilot, Nissan Pathfinder, Subaru Ascent, and Toyota Highlander.
Also, there’s Mazda. The brand was eager to get the tried-and-true CX-9 in our shootout, but what they offered next was huge; both literally and figuratively. Mazda was granting us early access to the brand’s yet unreleased, all-new, CX-90 three-row SUV for this shootout. For those unfamiliar with the CX-90, it’s built on a completely new rear-wheel drive bias platform, featuring an equally new turbocharged inline-six.
2023 Hyundai Palisade Calligraphy Review
The segment leader sees steady improvements for 2023. We put it to the test two ways: as a suburban family hauler, and as an inner-city escape pod.
It’s easy to relegate three-row SUVs like the 2023 Hyundai Palisade to exclusive “family hauler” status. An entire generation has eschewed the old standard—the humble minivan—for these stretched-out high-riders, after all. Yet just as it was the case for the vans of old, there are folks out there that plan to fill these SUVs with more than just other people. Whether its for items or four-legged friends, a mid-sized SUV’s space can be a huge advantage for younger folks, while maintaining the high driving position and go-anywhere capability modern buyers demand.
Taking all that into account, we approached a week with the refreshed Palisade a little differently. Managing editor Mike Schlee would spend the first half of the week putting its family appeal to the test; I’d spent the tail end finding out if it really appealed to a pair of DINKS (dual income no kids). Here’s what we found.
2023 Hyundai Palisade Review First Drive: Just Like The Old Car, But Better
The Hyundai Palisade has been kind of the midsize crossover champion for a while now.
Since its introduction in 2018 (2019 model year), the Palisade, (and its mechanical cousin, the Kia Telluride) have sat at the top of the sales charts. They were hard-to-find hot commodities even before COVID-related shutdowns ruined the supply chain, making nearly all cars a hard-to-find hot commodity. The Palisade has been a critical darling, too, but complacency is the enemy of progress. Hyundai’s freshened the Palisade for 2023, but is it still the cream-of-the-crop of midsized SUVs?
After a day with the refreshed 2023 Hyundai Palisade, I can confidently say, yes, it’s still probably one of the best three-row SUVs money can buy.
