Sony this month announced its latest Mobile ES lineup of in-car speakers and subwoofers. Ranging from $220 to $300, the components should please audiophiles.

“Our audio engineers have designed the Mobile ES speaker lineup to give our customers a premium listening experience, without compromise,” said Daisuke Kawaguchi, Vice President of Home Entertainment & Sound, Sony Electronics Inc. “Our new speakers give music enthusiasts a variety of options based on their unique needs, while delivering the next level of innovation to the in-vehicle audio market.”

The full series includes four speakers and a 10-inch subwoofer. The two-way coaxial speaker offerings include the XS-680ES (6×8 inches), XS-690ES (6×9 inches), and XS-160ES (6.5 inches). A 6.5-inch component speaker is also available, which adds a Phase Plug, as well as Bi-amp Terminals, and Gain Selector in Crossover Networks. The former is meant to minimize distortion; the latter balances the woofer and tweeter signal levels.

An XS-W104ES subwoofer rounds out the lineup.

All five items feature Sony’s Mica Reinforced Cellular diaphragm material. The designs utilize separated notch edge surround, soft dome tweeters, and a progressive height rate spider. There is also a dynamic air diffuser for proper air circulation.

The Mobile ES range is now available for pre-order, and will release June 10. Pricing is set at $219.99 for the XS-W104ES; $249.99 for the XS-680ES and XS-160ES; and $299.99 for the XS-690ES and XS-162ES.
