Cadillac CT4 Overview

The Cadillac CT4 stands out as a unique compact sedan, offering a rear-wheel-drive platform (with available AWD) and sharp driving dynamics. Powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four producing 237 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque, the CT4 Sport delivers responsive acceleration and solid performance, enhanced by an engaging eight-speed automatic transmission. Fuel economy is rated at 22/31 mpg city/highway, but real-world figures can exceed estimates.

On the road, the CT4 Sport shines with its composed ride, balanced handling, and impressive Brembo front brakes. It performs well in both daily driving and spirited backroad runs, though its 3,620-pound curb weight is occasionally noticeable. The Sport trim adds sporty styling cues, including a mesh grille and 18-inch wheels, making it visually distinctive.

The cabin, while functional, falls short of luxury benchmarks, with limited rear legroom and some low-grade materials. The driver’s seat offers excellent adjustability and long-distance comfort. The infotainment system, featuring wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, is intuitive but beginning to feel dated.

Starting at just under $38k, the CT4 offers competitive pricing, though options can inflate the cost quickly. Despite minor shortcomings, the CT4 Sport is an enjoyable and stylish sedan, providing a rare blend of rear-drive dynamics and modern practicality in its segment.

2023 Cadillac CT4 Sport Review

Is it right to laud something simply for being the last of its kind?

Here at the precipice of Major Change in the automotive world, it can feel like every new internal-combustion model is its own end-of-line. The market’s last V8-powered compact sedan. A brand’s final manual transmission. Another marque’s send-off before an icon goes all-electric.

Even the Cadillac CT4 got its own superlative, as the vaunted CT4-V Blackwing (and CT5-V Blackwing) became the last gas-powered V-series models from the American brand. But even the whole CT4 family is unique: nobody else does a rear-biased four-door this small anymore. Does that mean even a 2023 Cadillac CT4 Sport, with the entry-level engine, is worth celebrating?

Pros

Torquey engines, rear-drive dynamics, affordable pricing

Cons

Low on space, interior isn't special enough, odd looks

Bottom Line

Cadillac's baby sedan remains the dynamic pick of the sub-compact luxury litter, but that focus puts it behind the pack in interior quality (and space).
