GMC Recalls Canyon AT4X AEV Over Air Bag Sensor
General Motors is recalling just over 1,100 2024–2026 GMC Canyon AT4X AEV vehicles. The issue has to do with incorrect sensing and diagnostic module software that may cause a second stage passenger air bag deployment when only a first stage is needed. What this means in simpler terms is instead of a softer deployment during a lower-speed collision, the full force of the airbag will come riffling out as if the truck is involved in a high speed crash.
To fix the issue, the sensor software will be corrected for free, either through an over-the-air update or at an owner's local dealership. Letters to notify affect trucks should be mailed by January 26, 2026. For owners with questions regarding the recall, they can contact the GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782.
