VIDEO: 2025.5 Volvo XC90 First Drive Review

The Volvo XC90 was originally set to step aside and make room for the all-electric EX90 as the brand's flagship SUV.
However, Volvo has revised its electrification timeline, moving from a full-electric goal by 2030 to a more tempered 90-percent electrification target. As a result, the XC90 is getting another facelift a decade after its debut, ensuring it remains relevant alongside its newer, fully electric sibling.
Kyle Patrick recently had a chance to sample the refreshed XC90. Check out his findings in the video below:
The refreshed XC90 benefits from updated styling and enhanced technology, keeping it competitive in the premium SUV market. Under Volvo's evolving strategy the XC90 will now co-lead the lineup alongside the EX90, rather than fading quietly into the background.
With this facelift, the XC90 continues to appeal to buyers who aren’t yet ready to make the full EV leap—Volvo is responding to a market that still values hybrid and internal combustion options.
