Toyota has issued a safety recall for approximately 48,000 model-year 2024–2025 Tacoma TRD Off-Road pickup trucks in the United States due to a potential hardware defect on the suspension system.

According to filing documents, corrosion can build up on the shock absorber assemblies over time. This corrosion can cause the shock absorber's external oil reservoir to separate and detach from the vehicle body. If a reservoir detaches while the truck is in motion, it creates a road hazard for following traffic, increasing the risk of a crash or injury to other road users
Toyota Tacoma TRD Suspension Fix and Owner Notification
Toyota dealers will inspect the front and rear shock absorber assemblies on all affected trucks and replace the compromised shock units with improved assemblies free of charge.
Toyota expects to mail official notification letters to owners by early October 2026. Owners seeking to verify if their truck is included in the recall can run their Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) or license plate details through Toyota’s recall lookup portal or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) database.
