Subaru is shifting focus back to its performance roots, teasing new limited-edition versions of the WRX sports sedan and BRZ rear-wheel-drive coupe for the 2027 model year.

Both enthusiast-oriented models are scheduled to make their official public debut at Subaru’s Boxerfest on September 27, 2026, at the York Fairgrounds in York, Pennsylvania.

While full specifications remain under wraps, a teaser image provided by the automaker strongly indicates that both special editions build upon existing tS ("Tuned by STI") trim levels.

The single image shows the rear decklid of a WRX fitted with a carbon-fiber rear wing. The aggressive aerodynamic furniture suggests the new version will focus heavily on track handling and downforce rather than a full STI treatment. Details regarding the 2027 BRZ limited edition remain unconfirmed, though it is expected to align closely with the WRX.

Despite the aggressive visual cues, powertrain changes are unlikely. The 2027 WRX limited edition is expected to retain its standard 2.4-liter turbocharged Boxer four-cylinder engine generating 271 horsepower, paired with Subaru's 6-speed manual transmission and Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive. The BRZ variant should stick with its 228-horsepower 2.4-liter naturally aspirated Boxer four-cylinder.

Subaru will share complete pricing, production caps, and technical specifications during the Boxerfest reveal on September 27.
