Jeep Recalls Nearly 98,000 Wagoneer Models Over Roof Racks That Fly

Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is issuing a safety recall for nearly 98,000 full-size SUVs due to a manufacturing defect that could cause the factory roof rack crossbars to detach while driving.

The recall affects an estimated 97,349 vehicles, including select 2022–2025 Jeep Wagoneer, 2022–2026 Jeep Grand Wagoneer, 2023–2025 Jeep Wagoneer L, and 2023–2026 Jeep Grand Wagoneer L models.

According to recall documentation filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the pivot bolts securing the roof rack crossbars may not have been torqued properly during vehicle assembly. Over time, these loose fasteners can back out completely. If the crossbars separate from the roof rails while the vehicle is in motion, they create a severe road hazard for surrounding traffic.

To address the safety risk, authorized Chrysler and Jeep dealers will inspect and replace the roof rack crossbar pivot bolts free of charge. Interim notification letters alerting owners to the safety risk will be mailed starting October 8, 2026. A second notice will follow once final remedy parts are fully stocked at dealerships.

Affected owners can contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403 for additional details regarding repair schedules.

Parts falling off Jeeps is not really news, but I guess it's a nice public service announcement for owners...
