Jeep Cherokee Replacement Coming 2025
We'll see the maybe-a-Cherokee in the second half of 2025, according to Jeep.
Jeep confirmed it would re-enter the compact SUV segment this week. During the NYC-based debut of the Wagoneer S, brand CEO Antonio Filosa confirmed a mainstream, D-segment model would arrive during the second half of 2025. While he wouldn't provide many more details, Filosa did say it would come with a name folks "could probably guess."
The likely candidate? The Cherokee, the popular model that fought the likes of the Toyota RAV4 until it was discontinued last year. Reintroducing the Cherokee, especially with some level of electrification, could give Jeep a stronger rival in the segment than the 'tweener Compass.
Whatever it does end up being called, we expect this new Jeep model to ride on a variation of a STLA platform and slot in below the Grand Cherokee. Jeep has made its STLA architecture adaptable for ICE, PHEV, and BEV applications, which Filosa said allows the company to tailor models to each market's demands. This maybe-a-Cherokee, for instance, will launch without a fully electric model, but Filosa wouldn't rule one out for further down the road.
Whatever it's called, expect to see the latest Jeep family member later in 2025.

Sincerely hope it's rear wheel drive biased and NOT fwd
I think they should give the Cherokee name to the shorter wheelbase 2-rows of seats Jeep Grand Cherokee while letting the longer wheelbase 3-rows of seats Grand Cherokee retain the "Grand Cherokee" name. A new smaller front-wheel drive model could use the Compass or Patriot name. Jeep has a whole bunch of old names that they could bring back.
