With the TrailSport trim devouring more than 80 percent of total Passport sales, Honda isn't waiting around for a mid-cycle refresh to chase the off-road crowd. The 2027 Honda Passport TrailSport lands with a thoroughly re-engineered factory suspension lift, pulling its unibody architecture a little higher into Toyota 4Runner territory.

2027 Honda Passport TrailSport: 70% New Suspension Parts

This isn't a cheap aftermarket block-and-spacer job. Honda completely re-engineerd roughly 70 percent of the TrailSport's suspension system to stretch ride height without ruing its refined on-road manners.

  • Ground Clearance: Bumps up by 1.38 inches to a grand total of 9.7 inches (9.65 inches exact).
  • Approach Angle: Gains two degrees, now topping out at 25 degrees.
  • Departure Angle: Gains two degrees, also stretching to 25 degrees.
  • Breakover Angle: Increases three degrees to 23 degrees.
  • Hardware Revisions: Includes newly valved dampers, revised springs, stiffer stabilizer bars, updated front driveshafts, and a modified front subframe engineered to preserve factory CV axle geometry.

The new 9.7-inch belly clearance technically out-clears the published figures of a stock Toyota 4Runner TRD Off-Road—though the Toyota still relies on a live rear axle with a low-slung differential housing that behaves differently over rocks than the Honda’s fully independent setup.

Trailsport Visual Tweaks And New Standard Equipment

Honda also revised the front fascia with wider fender flare cladding and integrated a pair of amber LED marker lights directly into the functional hood scoop.

Inside, the previously optional TrailWatch multi-camera system—which uses surround-view cameras to feed real-time tire placement imagery onto the center screen—becomes standard equipment across all 2027 TrailSport models, alongside a standard heated steering wheel. A new Smoke Blue Pearl exterior paint color replaces the outgoing Obsidian Blue shade.

Pricing for the lifted 2027 Passport TrailSport will be announced closer to its official dealership arrival later this fall.
