VIDEO: 2024 Ford Ranger With 2.7L Turbo V6 Is The Right Choice
The 2024 Ford Ranger lineup has been enhanced with the introduction of a 2.7-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine, effectively bridging the performance gap between the standard 2.3-liter four-cylinder and the high-output Raptor variant.
This new powertrain delivers 315 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque, providing a substantial boost over the base engine's 270 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. Available on the XLT and Lariat trims, the 2.7-liter V6 is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission, ensuring smooth power delivery and enhanced driving dynamics.
Mike Schlee had a chance to test the new powertrain recently. Check out his thoughts in the video below!
This configuration offers improved acceleration and responsiveness, making it a compelling choice for those seeking more performance without stepping up to the Raptor model.
While the V6 enhances driving enjoyment, it's important to note that it doesn't increase the Ranger's towing or payload capacities. The maximum towing capacity remains at 7,500 pounds, and the payload capacity stays at 1,805 pounds, consistent with the capabilities of the 2.3-liter engine.
