Dodge Charger Police Pursuit Special Breaks Cover In Florida

Dodge is preparing to return to the law enforcement sector with a police pursuit version of its newly redesigned Charger.

A fully upfitted demonstrator model recently broke cover at the Police Fleet Expo at Daytona International Speedway, offering a preview of the upcoming patrol vehicle.

The demonstrator vehicle, showcased by Team One Public Safety Division, is built on the gas-powered Charger SixPack platform. While Dodge has not officially specified whether the police package utilizes the Standard Output 420-horsepower variant or the High Output 550-horsepower tune of the 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged Hurricane inline-six engine, both configurations easily surpass the 370 horsepower produced by the outgoing V8-powered Charger Pursuit.

Like the civilian production model, the Charger Police Pursuit Vehicle routes power through a standard all-wheel-drive system. Heavy-duty fleet modifications expected for production units include reinforced suspension components, upgraded cooling hardware for the engine and transmission during extended idling, and high-performance braking systems.

The interior of the demonstrator features standard police equipment, including integrated passenger dividers, auxiliary radio mounts, siren and lighting control units, and specialized interior trim. While the center console setup in the preview car appears tightly packaged around the factory shifter, refined production layouts are expected prior to full fleet availability.

Reports indicate that law enforcement agencies will be able to place official orders for the Charger Pursuit starting in the summer of 2027, but that remains unconfirmed.
