2027 Audi Nuvolari Asking Price Might Be Just Out Of Your Budget

Audi has officially attached a price tag to its flagship hybrid halo car.

The mid-engine Nuvolari supercar Audi surprised everyone with earlier this year will carry a starting price of $701,000 in the United States, placing the four rings firmly into hypercar territory. Production will be strictly capped at 499 units globally, with 220 examples—give or take—allocated for U.S. customers.

That figure makes the Nuvolari the most expensive Audi road car to ever exist. It's more than double the price of even the most expensive R8 models—the 2023 V10 GT Coupe topped out around $250,000.

While moving into the space left vacant by the R8, the Nuvolari is a drastic step away from what made the R8 much loved among enthusiasts. The R8 was a simple, naturally aspirated V10; they were easy enough to work on if you were so inclined, but almost any high-performance specialty shop worth its door rate was capable of fixing and servicing them.

The Nuvolari moves to a complex electrified setup borrowed from the Lamborghini Temerario. The powertrain pairs a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine with three axial-flux electric motors—two mounted on the front axle and one integrated into the transmission.

Together, the setup delivers almost 1,000 combined horsepower, sending power through an all-wheel-drive system. A small, high-discharge lithium-ion battery pack provides rapid torque fill rather than long-distance electric range, plunging zero-to-sixty times well under three seconds.

While the mechanical underpinnings owe their origin to the Lamborghini, Audi’s unique engine tuning and software calibration give the Nuvolari a higher total power output— 80 more than the Lambo's 907—compared to its Italian cousin, extracting extra performance from the shared hybrid architecture.

Deliveries are scheduled to begin in 2027.
