Ram Makes An Unmatched Promise To All New Pickup Owners

Ram just introduced a new 10-year/100,000-mile limited powertrain warranty for all 2026 model year trucks, a play designed to maximize durability in a segment where longevity matters as much as towing capacity.

Key Points

  • Ram is introducing a 10-year/100,000-mile limited powertrain warranty for all 2026 model year trucks, covering models from the 1500 to the 5500 series.
  • The extended warranty reflects rising vehicle prices and longer truck loan terms, with nearly 80% of buyers now financing beyond five years, according to Ram CEO Tim Kuniskis.
  • This move sets Ram apart from Ford and GM, whose powertrain warranties top out at five years/60,000 miles, and makes Ram the first to offer such coverage on full-size and heavy-duty pickups.

The upgraded coverage applies across the brand’s entire truck lineup—from the Ram 1500 through to heavy-duty variants like the 2500, 3500, 4500, and 5500—offering buyers peace of mind well into the next decade.

The enhanced warranty, which covers core drivetrain components including the engine, transmission, transfer case, driveshafts, axles, and differentials, is exclusive to retail and business buyers. Fleet purchasers and the Ram ProMaster EV are excluded. While EV-specific service coverage will remain separate,

Ram’s is zeroing in on traditional truck buyers who often finance long-term and require their truck to last well past the payoff date.

Ram CEO Tim Kuniskis said the decision was made in response to rising vehicle prices and longer loan durations. “Everything is more expensive, and trucks are certainly no exception,” Kuniskis said. “Truck buyers are financing purchases for longer periods of time, with nearly 80 percent of new truck loans exceeding five years.”

Ram's 10-year/100,000-mile term doubles the typical powertrain coverage offered by crosstown competitors Ford and General Motors—both of which cap powertrain protection at five years or 60,000 miles. Ram’s new policy is the first of its kind applied to full-size and heavy-duty pickups.

Whether you’re buying a high-performance RHO model for weekend trails and daily duties or a 6.7-liter Cummins-powered HD for professional jobsite demands, Ram’s new warranty should add meaningful value for buyers planning to hold onto their trucks beyond the standard cycle. For owners, it’s a tangible benefit that could reduce long-term maintenance costs and boost resale value.

Great to see the return of the 100k warranty. Now, will/can Jeep follow suit? The 100k factory warranty puts a manufacturer all-in on backing its reputation rather than taking buyers' money for granted, it's building products that respect buyers who are all-in the moment they take possession. Moreover, when an auto manufacturer stands behind its products for a 100k miles, the message is that it must build something that will go well beyond that limit and give the buyer the means to maintain it well beyond that limit. Better yet, offer a lifetime warranty as an affordable option which says you're going to love our stuff. The JK edition of Wranglers dared to offer this despite introducing an unproven drive train. If one who has a JK with the lifetime warranty loves Jeeping we'll find them unlikely to part with their JK giving up a feature that commits a manufacturer to its durability. Myself, a TJR owner needing more space, in the market for a 2 door truck not offered by Jeep, but wanting a Jeep's capability am motivated to investigate ordering one expecting the traction options available for Jeeps and getting 100k miles of factory backing to boot.
