There’s never been a better time for car enthusiasts that have a need for speed.

Even the most basic, mass-market family vehicles deliver acceleration that was almost unimaginable just 20 or 30 years ago, and they do this with more amenities and better safety than ever before. But of course, this is all relative, because there’s speed and then there’s speed.

If you’re really in a hurry, here are 10 of the fastest cars on offer in the U.S. today.

10) 2025 Tesla Model S Plaid

Many car lovers have gasoline coursing through their circulatory systems, so electric vehicles are a bit hard for them to accept. But EV technology can deliver absolutely staggering performance, as the 1,020-horsepower Tesla Model S Plaid proves.

This large luxury sedan can blast from 0 to 60 miles per hour in a manufacturer-estimated 1.99 seconds and has a top speed of 200 mph (322 km/h). How’s that for speed?

9) 2025 Ford Mustang GTD

The Ford Mustang has never been an exotic car, but that hasn’t stopped the blue oval from trying to transform this affordable performance machine into something more. The pinnacle GTD model, for instance, is the fastest, most powerful factory Mustang ever offered—with 815 hp and 664 pound-feet of torque courtesy of a supercharged 5.2-liter V8.

That’s enough kibbles and bits to propel this car to a terminal velocity of 202 mph (325 km/h). The GTD also completed the grueling 13-mile Nürburgring Nordschleife in less than 7 minutes.

8) 2025 Lucid Air Sapphire

Beating the Model S at its own game is the Lucid Air Sapphire, another all-electric four-door with absolutely crushing performance. This sleek and sexy sedan brandishes a 1,234-hp saber that can cut rival performance vehicles down with laughable ease.

The car can rocket from a standstill to 60 mph in an estimated 1.89 seconds. The Sapphire’s top speed is 205 mph (330 km/h). As an enthusiast, you may not love ‘em, but EVs can absolutely deliver shocking performance.

7) 2025 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1

2025 Corvette ZR1

Outrunning the Air Sapphire and Mustang GTD by a decent margin is America’s original exotic car, the Chevrolet Corvette. For 2025, the range-topping ZR1 model is the fastest and most powerful Corvette ever built by the bow tie brand.

Providing fighter jet levels of thrust is a 5.5-liter twin-turbo V8 fitted with a flat-plane crankshaft. This setup delivers a walloping 1,064 hp and 828 lb-ft of twist. The top speed? It’s estimated to be more than 215 mph (346 km/h). Also, the ZR1 is expected to chew up and spit out the quarter mile in less than 10 seconds.

6) 2026 Ferrari F80

No list of the fastest roadgoing cars is complete without a Ferrari, and the Italian brand’s F80 fits here quite nicely— it’s the company’s new performance flagship for the 2026 model year. This beast features a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6, yes, you read that correctly, V6, with an unexpected 120-degree bank angle to keep things low and compact. This engine is also paired with a plug-in hybrid system that helps grace the F80 with 1,184 hp. That’s enough to propel the car to 62 mph (100 km/h) in a Ferrari-estimated 2.15 seconds. As for the top speed, it’s an impressive 217 mph (350 km/h).

5) 2025 McLaren W1

2025 McLaren W1

Next up, we have the McLaren W1. Both the Mustang GTD and Corvette ZR1 have garnered important superlatives from their respective manufacturers, and so has the W1. This is the fastest-accelerating road-going McLaren ever offered. A smooth, flowing, almost organic-looking exotic car, the W1 can rocket from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in a shocking 2.7 seconds. The car can hit 200 km/h (124 mph) in just 5.8 seconds, quicker than many vehicles are able to reach 60 mph.

This acceleration is enabled by a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine that’s bolstered by electric assist and is paired with an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission. This drivetrain provides 1,258 hp and 988 lb-ft of twist, enough to give the W1 a terminal velocity of 217 mph (349 km/h).

4) 2025 Rimac Nevera R

2025 Rimac Nevera R

Beating that mighty McLaren is another electric, the Nevera R, a product of everyone’s favorite Croatian automaker: Rimac.

This low-slung exotic features a 108-kilowatt-hour battery—appreciably smaller than the 120-kWh pack found in the “standard” Nevera. Regardless, that energy reservoir juices a quartet of electric motors that delivers a staggering 2,107 hp and 1,726 pounds of twist. That’s enough to reach 60 mph in 1.74 seconds and write a check for a top speed of 256 mph (412 km/h).

3) 2025 Bugatti Tourbillon

2025 Bugatti Tourbillon

In comparison to the Nevera R, the Bugatti Tourbillon is much more traditiona l, relying on a fire-breathing 8.3-liter naturally aspirated V16 engine for most of its motivation, though a few battery-powered bits including three electric motors do help, and provide about 37 miles (60 km) of electric-only range (on the WLTP test cycle). All told, this powertrain provides you with about 1,775 hp and a redline of 9,000 rpm.

The Tourbillon can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in just 2 seconds flat; the car’s top speed is nearly 277 mph (446 km/h).

2) 2025 SSC Tuatara

2025 SSC Tuatara

It’s not quicker to 60 mph than the Bugatti listed above, but the SSC Tuatara does have a higher top speed, significantly higher. The manufacturer claims this exotic two-door can reach 60 mph in a lickety-split 2.5 seconds, but the Tuatara has already hit a brain-melting terminal velocity of 295 mph (475 km/h).

A mid-mounted twin-turbocharged V8 engine makes these impressive performance figures possibl e, whipping up 1,350 hp on 91-octane gasoline. Fill the tank with spicier ethanol, and that figure jumps by 400 horses which should push top speed past the 300 mph barrier.

1) 2025 Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut

2025 Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut

One of the fastest cars—if not the fastest car on the road today—is the Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut. This Swedish exotic features a 5.0-liter twin-turbo V8 that spins to an 8,500-rpm redline and cranks out 1,280 hp. No 0-to-60 or 0-to-100 times appear to be listed by the manufacturer, but the Jesko Absolut has hit 400 km/h (249 mph) from a standstill in less than 28 seconds.

Obviously, that is not faster than Tuatara, Tourbillon or Nevera R, but Koenigsegg estimates that this mean machine should have a theoretical top speed north of 330 mph, putting it significantly ahead of everything else on this list. More testing needs to be done to verify that estimate, but the way the Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut looks, it would be no surprise if this car hit that speed—or even eclipsed it.
