Hyundai Recalls a Few Dozen IONIQ 5 and 9 EVs Over Fire Risk
Hyundai is issuing a recall for 27 specific 2025-2026 IONIQ 5 and 2026 IONIQ 9 vehicles. The problem has to do with the high voltage battery system that may contain an improperly tightened bus bar, which can cause a short-circuit. This can lead to all kinds of problems, including a fire.
To remedy the issue, dealers will inspect and tighten the bus bar retention bolts, as necessary, free of charge. For the few owners affected, notification letters are expected to be mailed April 6, 2026. In the meantime, customers of the all-electric SUVs can contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460.
