Who Makes The Least Reliable Vehicles In America?

According to Consumer Reports, Rivian makes the least reliable vehicles in America.
Looking over the electric automaker’s low score of 14 (out of a maximum of 100) on Consumer Reports’ predicted reliability rankings, it’s not even a close race. The next-least-reliable brand is Cadillac with a score of 27.
Here are the bottom five automakers by predicted reliability as ranked by Consumer Reports:

Interestingly, Rivian and Tesla both fall into the bottom of the predicted reliability rankings despite only offering vehicles with electric powertrain options. According to Consumer Reports, EVs have fewer potential trouble areas to rank than other vehicle types.
Despite the comparatively simple motor and battery combination, Steven Elek, who oversees auto data analytics at Consumer Reports, says electric vehicles still have “issues with their non-EV components, such as the latest infotainment and electronic features.”
Electric trucks were specifically called out by Consumer Reports. The Rivian R1S and R1T along with the Ford F-150 Lightning all earned below- or well-below average scores despite having been on the market for several years. The Cadillac Lyriq and Chevrolet Blazer EV were also highlighted as models with very low predicted reliability scores.
Consumer Reports calculates its predicted reliability scores using data from its subscribers that covers 300,000 vehicles built over the last 25 years. Depending on vehicle type, as many as 20 potential trouble areas are studied, and, since problems like squeaky brakes aren’t as serious as a blown transmission, issues are ranked by severity.
