Toyota had been teasing some sort of mid-engine two-seater that would debut this weekend at the Tokyo Motor Show and here it is: the GR HIJET MORIZO K-Trail. No, that is not a new MR2 and in fact, it actually has more than two-seats. In fairness, the Daihatsu Hijet Kei truck did originally come with just two seats, but two more have been added to the bed of this truck as part of the build.

The truck came to be as part of a friendly build-off between two of Toyota’s subsidiaries, Daihatsu and Gazoo Racing. As the name suggests, the GR HIJET MORIZO K-Trail is the Gazoo Racing entry, while Daihatsu created the HIJET TRUCK JUMBO STAR CLIMBER, which easily has the better name.

Even if we may have been semi-trolled by Toyota over hopes of a MR2, the K-Trail is still one seriously cool truck.
