What Are the Most Loved Cars—The Ones Owners Would Buy Again?
That’s what we’re going to find out.
Welcome to Car Help Corner, where we help you, the consumer, master the process of car buying and ownership. Consumer Reports recently released its annual surveys for 2026, including its owner satisfaction survey, and today we’re looking at which brands—and which specific models—have owners who are happiest and most likely to buy again.
There are a few surprises on this list, and I have some thoughts. Let’s get into it.
10th Place: Honda
Honda lands in 10th place, with 64% of owners saying they would buy another Honda.
The Honda model with the highest owner satisfaction is the Honda Passport, with 78% of owners saying they’d buy another one. That makes sense given what a strong job Honda did with the latest redesign. It’s comfortable, well-made, and thoughtfully designed—and it also scored 97 out of 100 for reliability.
Other high-scoring Hondas include:
Honda Civic Hybrid: 77% would buy again. This is great to see, especially since it was my pick for Car of the Year. It’s an incredibly well-designed car that does almost everything well.
Honda Ridgeline: 75% would buy again. The Ridgeline remains a bit of a hidden gem—great value, very comfortable, and typically excellent on reliability.
Overall, Honda has a lot of winners.
9th Place: Toyota
In ninth place is Toyota, with 65% of owners saying they would buy another Toyota. That’s impressive when you consider how many different models Toyota sells.
Toyota’s highest owner satisfaction model is the RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid, with 83% of owners saying they’d buy again.
Other Toyotas with very high scores include:
GR86: 78%
Supra: 75%
Highlander Hybrid: 77%
Sienna: 75%
Crown Hybrid: 75%
And there are plenty of other strong performers as well, including the Camry, Grand Highlander Hybrid, Prius, and the Crown Signia—all with high owner satisfaction ratings.
A lot of this comes down to what Toyota consistently does well: smart design, strong build quality, reliability, and solid value.
8th Place: Lexus
Next up is Lexus, with an average owner satisfaction score of 66%.
The top Lexus model is the Lexus ES, with 83% of owners saying they’d buy again.
Other strong Lexus models include:
RX 350 Hybrid: 78%
NX 350 Hybrid: 73%
Lexus IS: 72%
The theme here is familiar: Lexus tends to deliver what luxury buyers want—comfort and features—without the long-term headaches that can come with many luxury brands.
7th Place: Genesis
In seventh place is Genesis, with 66% of owners saying they would buy another Genesis.
This one is a little misleading. Genesis doesn’t have as many sky-high standout scores like some of the brands above, but it also doesn’t have obvious duds. Most of the lineup is clustered around roughly the same satisfaction level—about 67%—including popular models like the GV70 and GV80.
What’s interesting is that Genesis isn’t always a top performer in reliability rankings, but owners still love them because they’re comfortable, drive well, and feel genuinely luxurious. Genesis also offers one of the longest warranties in the business, and the overall ownership experience—service support, coverage, and perks—clearly matters here.
6th Place: Ford
In sixth place is Ford. I’ll be honest—this one surprised me, given Ford’s quality inconsistencies and recall volume.
But Ford’s owner satisfaction appears to be driven by a handful of models that owners really love:
F-150 Lightning: 78%
Mustang Mach-E: 73%
Ford Mustang: 73%
Ford Maverick: 77%
So yes—Ford makes some vehicles that are hard to recommend. But they also make a few that owners are genuinely thrilled with.
5th Place: Tesla
In fifth place is Tesla, with 69% of owners saying they would buy another one.
Tesla’s highest-rated model is the Model Y, with 82% owner satisfaction.
Even the Cybertruck shows 73% of owners saying they would buy again—despite widely discussed quality issues. That’s a reminder that owner satisfaction isn’t always about reliability alone. If a vehicle is appealing enough, some owners will overlook the rough edges.
4th Place: Subaru
In fourth place is Subaru, also at 69% owner satisfaction.
The highest-rated model is the Subaru BRZ, with 78% saying they’d buy again.
Subaru’s bread-and-butter models also score very well:
Forester: 77%
Crosstrek: 74%
Outback: 73%
This one makes a lot of sense. Subaru owners tend to be loyal because the vehicles are safe, capable in bad weather, practical, and generally a good value.
3rd Place: BMW
In third place is BMW, with 71% of owners saying they would buy another one.
High-scoring BMW models include:
X5: 80%
i4 (electric): 78%
2 Series: 78%
Z4: 75%
Whether it’s SUVs, EVs, or sports cars, BMW owners seem very happy with the overall experience.
2nd Place: Porsche
In second place is Porsche, with a very strong 77% of owners saying they would buy again.
No surprise, the highest-rated model is the 911, at 85%.
Even Porsche’s SUVs score highly:
Cayenne: 78%
Macan: 74%
Yes, these are expensive vehicles—and yes, maintenance and repairs can be costly. But owners clearly feel the experience is worth it: the driving, the design, the performance, and the overall enjoyment.
1st Place: Rivian
And in the number one spot: Rivian.
Rivian leads the list with 85% of owners saying they would buy another Rivian. That’s remarkable for a smaller automaker with only two core models:
R1T
R1S
What’s especially interesting is that Rivian has also been criticized for quality and reliability issues. Yet despite those potential headaches, owners are still extremely satisfied. That’s another example of how emotional the ownership experience can be—sometimes it really isn’t only about reliability.
Wrap-Up
So there you have it. What do you think of these results? And if you own any of these vehicles, what has your ownership experience been like? Let me know in the comments.

The difficulty with brand re-buying is every brand, once nearly perfected, re-invents itself backwards into flawed models resulting in such models morphing into extinction only to be reintroduced into something unrecognizable......all for the purpose of increased profit. I won't live long enough to experience the inevitability that in a six figure product environment, to survive, the auto industry will be required to produce modularizable products intended to give service for a lifetime on par with single family housing. The age of disposable automobiles is ending. No longer will flawed automobile design be tolerated.
