Lamborghini Huracan Replacement Will Debut August 16

Lamborghini will debut its mid-engined Huracan successor on August 16th, during Monterey Car Week.

According to Lamborghini, “this new HPEV (High Performance Electrified Vehicle) super sports car will mark the completion of the hybridization process of the Lamborghini range, featuring an all-new twin-turbo V8 engine paired with a hybrid system for best-in-class performance and driving experience.”

Unlike the Huracan and the Gallardo before it, this new hybrid V8 Lambo will be a standalone effort. In recent years, Lamborghini’s smallest sports car has shared various aspects of its design and engineering with the Audi R8. However, since Audi no longer makes a combustion-powered R8 (or indeed any R8), the latest entry-level Lambo had to be its own thing.

The successor, reportedly called the “Temerario,” will make use of a new flat-plane V8 with a stratospheric 10,000 rpm redline and two turbos. The engine will reportedly make 887 horsepower thanks to the high-revving V8 and a hybrid system derived from Lamborghini’s LMDh prototype.

Power will likely be sent to all four wheels, but we’ll find out in just a few weeks.
