Genesis Shows New 1,540-HP Concept

Insane is the word to describe the Genesis X Gran Racer Vision Gran Turismo Concept.

Genesis isn’t going to sell this wild concept. Perhaps because the name is too long. Meet the Genesis X Gran Racer Vision Gran Turismo Concept.

It’s basically a track-focused version of another Genesis X concept, the Gran Berlinetta. Evidently, the racetrack mentality leads to some big design changes. There’s a massive carbon fiber wing in back, paired with a radical central shark fin running half the car’s length similar to a GTP or LMH race car. This feeds into a diffuser remarkably like the tamer Gran Berlinetta’s, though a set of huge fender vents and sideskirts still help set the Gran Racer apart.

Genesis says the coupe is powered by the same hybrid powertrain as the earlier concept with some key changes. The supercharged V6 revs to 10,000 rpm, making 870 horsepower and 790 lb-ft of torque on the way. This powertrain works in conjunction with a front-mounted e-motor pushing a hilarious 670 hp and 225 lb-ft. Combined output comes to a very insane 1,540 hp and 1,051 lb-ft. That totals 469 hp and 65 lb-ft over last year’s Gran Berlinetta.

This new concept is based on the existing Gran Berlinetta concept.

Of course, these figures are just numbers porn. They’re also purely hypothetical, as the only way to “experience” the Gran Racer’s ludicrous power output is–as the name suggests–in Gran Turismo. The car will be available in-game to help drum up interest in Genesis’ new performance brand, Magma. However, Genesis hasn’t yet said when the car will be available in the game.
