Auctions At 2026 Monterey Car Week Tally $748 Million, A New Record
A financial sign of the times, or just big-money enthusiast automobiles happening to change hands at the same time? Call it what you will, this year's Monterey Car Week blasted its way to the top of the record board with a massive $748 million in sales across its auction platforms.
Monterey Car Week brings some of the biggest, heaviest-hitting, and wealthiest sub-circles of the automotive community. You can't turn a corner without seeing a six-digit car, and even million-dollar-plus vehicles litter the landscape in a way that happens nowhere else on earth.
The Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, Monterey Motorsports Reunion, and The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering all dominate the visuals, while it's really the money changing hands that helps keep the events flowing. We won't speculate over whether the big money auctions indicate the richest needing to free up some finances or others having more than ever to spend, but the numbers are nearly unvelievable.
This year brought a massive showing of money and vehicles swapping hands, to the tune of $747.9 million in sales (up from last year's $432.7 million) across the Pebble Beach Auctions including RM Sotheby's, Gooding Christie's, Mecum, Broad Arrow Auctions, and Bonhams. Hagerty put together some data for us to fawn other, but the headline is that "Modern supercars exceeded expectations and accounted for more than half of all sales," which you'll see in info that follows.
