Acura's New EV Concept Will Debut At Monterey Car Week

An electric Integra, or another crossover?

In a shocking twist, Acura will debut an exciting new concept at Monterey Car Week. Just like last year.

This time last year, that was the Acura ZDX, the automaker’s first electric SUV. This time around, what Acura will show is much less apparent. The brand has shown an electric concept with some NSX-y styling previously, but this certainly doesn’t look like that. The sole teaser image provided shows the rear of the vehicle, with a prominently displayed light bar and a mildly hatch-y design. The slight fastback look could hint at an electrified take on one of the brand’s sedans — after all, Acura already has its electric SUV.

The Acura ZDX

According to Acura, the concept previews a new model that will be the first built in Ohio on the company's new dedicated EV platform. The ZDX rides on GM's Ultium platform, which is built alongside the Cadillac Lyriq in Tennessee.

We’d love to see a small, affordable EV in the same vein as the Integra. Or, Acura will do the logical thing — it’ll show a concept that will become a fully electric SUV or crossover to help flesh out what is historically one of the most profitable body styles in the auto industry. Place your bets, Monterey Car Week kicks off in mid-August.
