2027 Buick Envista Rumored To Make Safety Suite Standard On All Trims

The 2027 Buick Envista moves an expansive suite of driver assistance and collision mitigation features to standard equipment on every trim, including Preferred, Sport Touring, and Avenir, rather than reserving them for higher-tier option packages.

The change, reported by GM Authority, means buyers get premium collision avoidance systems at the base price without the usual upcharge. The additions are substantial for an entry-level Buick. Shoppers will get Enhanced Automatic Emergency Braking, Intersection Automatic Emergency Braking, and Front Pedestrian and Bicyclist Braking, features earlier model years offered only as paid standalone options. All three target urban collision scenarios.

Buick has also reworked the Envista's existing safety architecture. Enhanced Lane Keep Assist takes over from the previous lane departure system, and Blind Zone Steering Assist arrives as standard for the first time. Adaptive Cruise Control, previously an optional extra, is now factory standard across the entire lineup. Low-speed and parking scenarios are covered as well, with Reverse Automatic Braking and Rear Cross Traffic Braking both made universally standard.

The crossover is also receiving physical exterior changes tied to safety. Prototype sightings suggest the Envista is dropping its low-mounted brake lights for a traditional upper taillight arrangement, a change aimed at improving visibility for following drivers.

The move raises questions about Buick's wider lineup. Rumors around the aging Envision point to the brand possibly cutting the model rather than reworking its dated architecture to keep pace. The approach also contrasts with pricing at the top of the range, where flagship Enclave shoppers are facing baseline hikes even as entry-level buyers gain driver assistance features at no added cost.

GM has not yet confirmed the 2027 Envista safety changes.
