Audi and its Quattro all-wheel drive is a pairing that makes serious artistry of the road. It’s like the duo of Daft Punk (if you’re an electronic music fan), The Black Keys (for the rock fans), or Hall and Oates or Simon and Garfunkel (for the fans of the older stuff). A faster, track-focused version of the Audi R8 may be on the way.

Audi has released a short video teasing a rear-wheel drive version of its R8 supercar, which is expected to debut at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show this week. 

Audi would like to eventually introduce a high-performance car to slot in above the V10 R8 in its lineup, but such a model isn’t a priority for the brand right now.

Not surprisingly, the German automakers of the world have readied plenty of vehicle debuts for the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show, and Audi is no exception.

The Audi R8 V10 Plus Spider made its North American debut among some fancy classic cars and rare exotics at this year’s Monterey Car Week.
