The Wild Ferrari SP1 and SP2 Have 800 HP and No Windshield

The two special-edition supercars are apart of a new limited edition line of vehicles from Ferrari called ‘Icona’. Every vehicle in the Icona line will be inspired by a past Ferrari, with the SP1 and SP2 pulling their inspiration from the 1948 Ferrari 166 MM, along with the single-seat 860 Monza and two-seat 750 Monza.

Powering these two roofless, windscreen-less supercars is an 800 hp version of Ferrari’s 6.5-liter V12 engine, which is paired with a seven-speed transmission. The automaker claims the pair will be able to accelerate from 0-60 mph in 2.9s and reach a top speed in excess of 186 mph (300 km/h).

The SP1 and SP2 are also extremely light thanks to their roofless ‘barchetta’ bodystyle and carbon fiber bodywork. It’s not clear if the single-seat SP1 is lighter than the two-seat SP2, but we imagine they aren’t too far off from one another in regards to weight.

Other notable features of the SP1 and SP2 include the compact doors, which dramatically open upwards, and a patented “Virtual Wind Shield” that deflects air away from the driver when the vehicle is in motion for a more pleasnt driving experience. Ferrari has also partnered withf fashion brands Loro Piana and Berluti for a range of “gentlemen-driver-inspired apparel and accessories,” for SP1 and SP2 buyers exclusively. The product range will include driver’s overalls, a helmet, gloves, a scarf and driving shoes, among more.

The chance to buy the Ferrari SP1 Monza or SP2 Monza will only be offered to Ferrari’s most loyal customers. If you don’t already own a handful of Ferraris and count flagship cars like the LaFerrari and Enzo among them, then you won’t qualify for one. Tough life, we know.
