2027 Lexus NX: 5 Things You Need to Know
Lexus is giving its popular compact luxury crossover a comprehensive update for 2027, sharpening its performance, design and interior technology. Moving exclusively to electrified power, the updated NX aims to set a new benchmark for the brand's driving feel and luxury cabin experience. Let’s break down the top five things you need to know about the 2027 Lexus NX.
#5: 100% Electrified Lineup
The 2027 Lexus NX officially transitions to a 100% electrified lineup, dropping pure gas-only powertrains entirely. Buyers can choose between Hybrid Electric and Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle models across four main grades: Premium, Premium+, F Sport, and Luxury. Hybrid variants offer a choice of front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive on entry trims, while the F Sport, Luxury, and all PHEV models come standard with all-wheel drive.
#4: Hybrid Powertrain Upgrades
There are major technical upgrades under the hood. The new hybrid system debuts a more compact, lightweight e-Axle that integrates the transaxle, motor, and Power Control Unit into one assembly, alongside silicon carbide power semiconductors in the inverter to boost overall efficiency.
On the plug-in hybrid NX 450h+, a revised lithium-ion battery delivers an eight percent increase in both power output and capacity. Its new transverse cell layout lowers the vehicle's center of gravity and increases floor rigidity, while standard DC fast charging and a power charge port door make topping up far more convenient. Plus, the E-Four electronic all-wheel-drive system features revised rear motor control for continuous, always-on AWD operation.
#3: Better Driving Dynamics
Honed on demanding test courses at Toyota Technical Center Shimoyama and Germany's Nürburgring, the new NX receives significant structural enhancements. A new floor cross member, tunnel ridge reinforcement, and redesigned suspension towers increase chassis rigidity to deliver sharper handling, improved ride comfort, and less road noise.
On NX grades that don’t include an adaptive variable suspension system, models adopt shock absorbers with ultra-low-speed valves to keep the body flat over bumps. Drivers will also appreciate a smaller 14.2-inch steering wheel paired with a variable rack gear, plus a new cornering brake control system that applies subtle braking to keep the vehicle stable during quick maneuvers.
#2: Exterior Styling & F Sport
The 2027 NX wears a wider, lower stance anchored by a modernized mesh grille and black accent moldings that replace traditional chrome.
Up front, dual-line daytime running lights give it a sharp lighting signature, while the rear showcases Lexus’s first Double L Signature taillight design featuring an illuminated central logo.
Fresh paint options include Shaded Ivy and an F Sport-exclusive shade called Incognito. Choosing the F Sport grade adds dynamic front under spoilers, side pontoons, piano black body accents, lightweight 20-inch aluminum wheels, and striking red brake calipers.
#1: Sensory Concierge
And our number one feature is the brand-new Sensory Concierge cabin experience. Available on Luxury and F Sport grades, Sensory Concierge turns the interior into a relaxing sanctuary by simultaneously coordinating ambient lighting, audio, climate control, seat temperatures, and, get this, fragrances across three curated modes: Inspire, Radiance, and Revitalize.
Occupants can choose from three bespoke scents inspired by the Lexus design philosophy: Shinmei, Seiyo, and Hanya. This multisensory setup complements a standard 14-inch touchscreen, a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, and an available Mark Levinson audio system featuring perforated metal speaker grilles surrounded by illuminated lighting rings.
