Aston Martin DBS Superleggera to Pack 700+ HP 5.2L Twin-Turbo V12
The next new Aston Martin to arrive will be the 700+ horsepower DBS Superleggera, the automaker has confirmed.
A mysterious Aston Martin DB11-based prototype (above) has been photographed at the Nurburgring and on public roads in recent months. It was previously believed to be the new Aston Martin Vanquish, but as the automaker revealed to Autocar, the prototype is actually for the new DBS Superleggera.
Serving as a successor to the performance-focused DBS, the DBS Superleggera will place an emphasis on lightness and handling. That doesn’t mean it won’t be powerful, though. Rumors indicate it will make more than 700 hp from a dolled-up version of the DB11’s twin-turbocharged 5.2-liter V12. That would place it squarely in the crosshairs of the 789 hp Ferrari 812 Superfast – some pretty serious company, to be sure.
The DBS Superleggera will allegedly debut at the end of June. It’s not clear when it will go on sale, but we imagine deliveries will commence in early 2019.

All this doesn’t mean the Vanquish nameplate is dead – far from it. Aston Martin believes there’s quite a bit of equity in the Vanquish name, which first appeared on the Ian Callum-designed V12 Vanquish in 2001, and is saving it for its forthcoming mid-engine model. The mid-engine Vanquish is said to ride on a model-exclusive platform and will have an engine that is not shared with any other vehicles in the Aston Range.
