The next-generation Audi Q3 should make its debut in late 2018 or early 2019.

Spy photographers have captured the new Audi Q3 testing on public roads in Germany, giving us our first good look at the next-gen crossover. The new Audi Q3 will ride on the Volkswagen Group’s popular MQB platform that also underpins the Volkswagen Tiguan. That means we can expect the Q3 to have similar powertrain options as the Tiguan, so entry-level Q3 models will be front-wheel drive, while higher trims will have Quattro all-wheel drive.

Audi has developed a reputation for a consistent design language across all its models, and the new Audi A8 ushered in a new generation for design. The Q3 will be the next to benefit from the changes, getting a similar hexagonal grille up front as the A8.

We’ve also seen a Volkswagen Tiguan that some believe is a hotter Tiguan R testing, but it is possibly serving as a mule for the RS Q3. It’s expected that the new RS Q3 will feature a 2.5-liter turbocharged five-cylinder engine as in the RS3, with around 400 horsepower.
