This is Basically the New Buick Regal Wagon
The upcoming Buick Regal Wagon will basically be a rebadged Opel Insignia Sports Tourer, which has just been released in Europe.
Heading to the U.S. as the Regal TourX, the new wagon should make its debut in the second quarter of 2017, possibly at the 2017 New York Auto Show. But before then, we can get a good idea of what to expect with the Opel Insignia Sports Tourer seen here, which will make its public debut at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show in March.
The second-generation Insignia features sleek styling that may remind you of the Mazda6 and that’s not a bad thing. Compared to the outgoing model, it is up to 440 pounds (220 kilograms) lighter depending on powertrain and trim.
According to Opel, the Insignia Sports Tourer will be available with a range of turbocharged gasoline and diesel engines in Europe, along with a new eight-speed automatic transmission. Best of all, it will have Insignia’s new intelligent all-wheel-drive system with torque vectoring, a feature that will make the Regal TourX exciting to drive.

In the U.S., we expect the Regal TourX to feature GM’s 3.6-liter V6 engine, but we’re still holding out hope that the automaker will bring the Insignia’s 2.8-liter twin-turbo V6 to the U.S. Along with the standard Regal, the wagon version will be imported from Germany. Currently the Buick Regal is produced at GM Canada’s Oshawa Assembly plant, but production is expected to end in 2017, when it will head over to Opel’s facility in Germany.
