Ford Edge Under NHTSA Investigation Over Faulty Warning Lights

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHSTA) has opened a preliminary investigation into certain warning-light issues with the 2011-2013 Ford Edge.
In the affected group, which is made up of about 380,000 units, the ‘door ajar’ warning light stays lit up even after all the doors are closed. While it may not cause direct safety issues, NHTSA says that having a light stuck on negates the effectiveness of the whole system.

“When the light is illuminated continuously, vehicle occupants cannot be certain if any of the doors are properly latched,” said NHTSA. “Reported safety consequences as a result of this issue include doors opening while driving, doors cannot be locked while driving, and the interior dome lights staying on continuously.”
One injury has been reported as a result of this issue, though details were not offered.
NHTSA will now work to discover the scope of the issue to find out whether or not there should be a safety recall.
