Infiniti is turning to virtual reality so that people can experience what its concept cars are like.

The automaker has teamed up with TEN: The Enthusiast Network to enhance the Infiniti Pavilion Experience at the 2015 Pebble Beach automotive week with an exhibit that lets guests virtually experience the Q60 concept on some of the world’s most exhilarating roads including Italy’s Stelvio Pass and the stunning Atlantic Ocean road in Norway.

According to Infiniti, the experience is the result of a collaboration between CXC Simulations and professional drivers, replicating the real-world physics of every bump, acceleration and turn. Tying it all together is a custom simulator recreating G-forces and tilt for a fully immersive virtual reality experience.

A second virtual reality experience will have the Japanese automaker’s executive design director Alfonso Albaisa taking guests on a guided tour of the design for the Infiniti QX30 concept in “From Pencil to Metal.” In addition, guests visiting the Infiniti Pavilion will receive a complimentary special edition headset inspired by Google Cardboard so they can download the free Infiniti Driver’s Seat VR mobile app and relive the full experience at home.

“The Pebble Beach Concours is the perfect stage for Infiniti and TEN to showcase the best in automotive style and technology,” said Allyson Witherspoon, director of marketing communications for Infiniti. “This innovative partnership invites the automotive enthusiast at Pebble Beach to transport themselves virtually and in real life with unique Infiniti experiences and celebrate with us the latest vehicles in the Infiniti lineup.”

Great idea! I would like to take a virtual drive in this car, but I would much prefer the real thing since this is one of a few cars I am considering for purchase next year.
